FroM tHe BeGiNniNg...

So I know that I'm NEW to the "Blog World" but I wanted to start from the time we found out we were having Landon! It goes back a few months but it's something I always want to remember so I figured writing it all down would be the best way, so here it goes...

Last Fall Wes and I started talking about having a FaMiLy!! We were super excited but weren't getting our hopes up just in case it took a while to get pregnant. Well it actually didn't take long at all!! I got pregnant in November but didn't know until I was 4 weeks along. I was expecting to get super sick (like everyone says you do) or have a SpeCiaL feeling that I was, but I didn't have any of that. I remember waking up thinking that my body felt a little different and I was "LATE" so I decided to take a pregnancy test just so see (thinking I totally wasn't!)...

The first test I took came back POSITIVE, but I didn't believe it so I took 2 more and they both came back POSITIVE!! I couldn't believe it!! I just sat in the bathroom thinking about how everything was about to change and the I'm a MOM! I was nervous, but super excited and couldn't wait to tell Wes!! He was so excited he was going to be a DAD!

Through out my entire pregnancy I felt GREAT!! I wasn't ever sick and just went about my daily routine with no problems! Being in Radiology I had several friends in Ultrasound who were so kind and did an ultrasound on me like every week!! It was such a blessing to see little Landon growing and see all the changes that he was going through :) I was 13 weeks along when I found out we were having a BOY (which I felt all along)!! I always wanted a boy first (a girl would have been awesome too) but it all seemed like a dream. I didn't start showing until about 20 weeks but when I finally "looked" pregnant it all seemed to become more real over-night!

At about 34 weeks my blood pressure started to go crazy and get super HIGH! So I had to have 3 non-stress tests and 1 ultrasound a week and to make sure Landon was doing okay. For the next 6 weeks I lived at the hospital and doctor's office, but I was willing to do whatever it took to get my sweet boy here safely! I was due on August 10, 2011 and I always felt like that was the day he would come. I had a doctor's appointment on August 9 to see how Landon was doing and to see if I had dilated anymore that 2 cm. That morning I felt horrible. I was very light headed, nauseous, had a major headache, and just wanted to go back to bed. Thankfully Wes was coming to the doctor with me because I needed his help just to walk in the door. When I got there the nurse asked my how I was doing...I told her I didn't feel good at all and that I really needed to lay down. She quickly took my blood pressure (which had jumped to 160/110) and yelled at Dr. Jones to come into my room quick! I hadn't even changed when he was in the door telling me to lay down quickly so he could check me (he was fearing preclampsia had set in!). I was still only dilated to a 2 so he did some other tests quickly and told Wes to get me up to the hospital because he needed to start me ASAP so nothing happened to Landon. I quickly called my MOM so that she could make it to Pocatello for the delivery...and heaven know's I was going to need her support and experience to help me!

Wes quickly got me to the hospital and they got me hooked up to all the "stuff". They started me on pitocin and I dilated to a 3 quick and thinned almost all the way. I got stuck at a 3 for some time so Dr. Jones decided to break my water. Until that point my contractions were nothing, but as soon as he broke my water things got crazy painful in no time! I was dilated to a 3 for over 9 hours, but was having contractions as if I were 10 cm. The pain was insane!! I was determined to go all natural but if I was only dilated to a 3 I didn't know how much longer I was going to last. Landon's heart rate started to go all over the place (because my body was stressed and causing it) so Dr. Jones encouraged me to get an epidural to see if that would slow down Landon's heart rate before a c-section became my option. I got an epidural (which was not the most comfortable thing I've ever experienced) and 15 minutes later I was dilated to 6 cm. I couldn't believe it!!! 3 hours later I was dilated to 10 cm and was ready to push. By this time my epidural had wore off on my right side so the contractions were back (but not any different than before). I had to wait 5 minutes (felt like an hour) for Dr. Jones to get to the hospital so I could have Landon. Once he got there I started pushing and 30 minutes later Landon was BORN!! It was the most amazing experience in the entire world!! Seeing my baby for the first time is something I'll never forget...an unbelievable feeling!!!

Wes went to be with Landon and make sure he was okay while I finished doing my thing. Dr. Jones is such a great doctor and took great care of me the entire time. He shared a story with me how his little boy thought he was superman and jumped off the back of the couch last night and broke his collar-bone!! Having several children he told me that no matter how old they are or how many children you always feel terrible when something bad happens to them. He told me to just LOVE him and that it's okay to cry everyone once in a while when you feel like you have let him down (even though you haven't even come close)!

I had such great care at the hospital because of my Post-Delivery nurse!! She was amazing and made me feel like I was the only patient she had!! I owe her big time :) We were there for 3 days and then finally got to bring Landon HOME!! I was so excited but so nervous... When we finally brought Landon home I was so overcome with emotions that I just started crying. I couldn't believe that I was a MOM and that my sweet boy was finally HOME!! It was a sigh of relief but so overwhelming...

Life had definitely changed but I couldn't wait for the new adventures that we were about to experience with our sweet little BOY Landon!!
